Do You Wear Busyness Like a Badge of Honor?

Lately, I’ve noticed how easily I wear my busyness like a badge of honor as if it’s proof of my worth or accomplishment. But deep down, I know this is the worst badge to carry. How often have I let my schedule push aside the most precious thing—time with the Lord? Jesus gently calls out to me, saying, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). Do I truly believe that in Him, I’ll find the peace my heart craves?

I think of Mary, who chose to sit at Jesus’ feet, listening to His words, while Martha was consumed by tasks. Jesus told Martha, "Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her" (Luke 10:42). Have I, like Martha, been so busy doing that I’ve forgotten the joy of simply being with Jesus? How often do I miss out on the better portion because I’m too caught up in the urgent rather than the eternal?

I realize nurturing my relationship with God doesn’t mean I need to find more hours in my day but that I need to invite Him into every moment. Whether it’s through a quiet prayer at dawn, a whispered song of worship, or meditating on His Word amidst life’s chaos, I want my heart to return to Him. Can I be still long enough to hear Him whisper, "Be still, and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10)?

Lord, help me to love You deeply, to treasure our moments together, and to rest in Your presence, knowing that in You, my soul finds its true home.

The Power of Being Thankful

The Power of Being Thankful

The power of being thankful can transform us, especially when it touches our lives during challenging times. As we navigate the difficult journey of redeeming our lives, embracing gratitude becomes a source of resilience and strength. In these moments, thankfulness offers comfort and clarity, helping us find purpose even in uncertainty. As 1 Thessalonians 5:18 reminds us, "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." It is in this space that we often sense the guiding presence of a higher power, reminding us that we are never alone and that every step we take, no matter how hard, has meaning.

Thankfulness also opens our hearts to a deeper sense of happiness. By appreciating even the smallest blessings, we become more aware of the abundance that surrounds us. This shift in perspective nurtures contentment and reduces the constant pursuit of external successes. As Philippians 4:6-7 teaches, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." True fulfillment comes not from accumulating wealth or status but from valuing the richness of life's experiences and the connections we share with others.

A Day of Encouragement

A Day of Encouragement

Every morning, Georgia and George began their day with a cup of coffee and a prayer, sitting on their cozy porch. They would hold hands, thanking God for His blessings and seeking His guidance for the day ahead. They lived by the verse,
"Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing" (1 Thessalonians 5:11), and made it their mission to uplift each other daily.

Georgia worked as an English tutor, running a tuition center, while George was a retiree who loved reading and making homemade pastries. Despite their busy schedules, they always found time to send each other uplifting messages. Georgia would text George, “You’re doing amazing work, love. Your kindness is like fresh bread, nourishing everyone you meet.” George would reply, “You inspire your students every day. Your wisdom and patience are blessings to all of them.”

In the evening, after dinner, they would share their day's highs and lows. Georgia listened intently as George recounted a new pastry recipe he tried and how it turned out, offering words of encouragement and a hug. George would then hear about Georgia’s day at the tuition center, cheering her on for her patience and dedication to her students.

Before bed, they read a Bible passage together, reflecting on how they could support and encourage each other more. George would often say, “Georgia, your strength in faith lifts me up. Thank you for being my rock.” And Georgia would respond, “George, your love and warmth build me up every day. I’m grateful for you.”

Their love and encouragement for each other were a living testimony of their faith. Georgia and George embodied the spirit of 1 Thessalonians 5:11 through their words and actions, creating a home filled with love, support, and trust.
